Study assignment, use a work from the Utrecht museum collection as inspiration. ‘Zelfportret’ by J.H. Moesman, shows the image he had of his lover through the stages of their relationship. After she ended their engagement, he added: a rag with a poppy through it, de-fleshing part of her face and giving her a metal breast with his own reflection painted in it.
